Træna’s headliners have always been, and will always remain, “Herring, silver smelt, capelin, cod and coalfish, with support from mackerel and halibut”. Without them, ther’ll be no festival.  Description:

’Phew, rock and roe!’

Just like the fans that travel here, the musicians who make the effort know that Træna isn’t just a musical festival. It’s a celebration in which music is merely bait to lure people towards a tiny corner of the world that they would otherwise never see, whose people they might otherwise never meet, and whose lifestyle they might otherwise never acknowledge, but all of which they’ll never, ever forget.

Træna’s musical guests usually tend towards the Scandinavian: Kings Of Convenience, Ane BrunSivertHøyem, Jenny Hval, Todd Terje, Susanne Sundfør and Aurora have all played here. But its lure for international artists willing to go the extra mile has proven strong. Spiritualised, Damien Rice, NenehCherry, Vintage Trouble, British Sea Power, Charli XCX, Richard Hawley and even Manu Chaotwice, by his own requestare amongst those who have crossed continents (before they’ve even reached the ocean) to perform over the years.
